You may DOWNLOAD this application so that you can use it off-line!
Downloading has the following benifits:
No need to be connected to the internet to use.
Quicker Loading Time.
Customise settings to put your own Location Details as default.
Adjust the position of the Great Red Spot should its longitude value change in the future.
Replace the image of Jupiter with your own.
Red version to preserve your dark-sky adaptation

Patient Java Application
Loading.
Because of all the new features and enhancements, my Java
application is getting quite large! I appreciate your patience in
waiting for it to appear (it could be 30 seconds if you have a
slow modem). I encourage you to download it and use it locally. This will speed up the
loading time.
Only seeing a big grey square above?
I get many emails from people who have recently
upgraded their computer and are having difficulty in running my Planets
application. You may also find that you are unable to run other Java
applications from other websites. The reason for this is that
Microsoft have stopped including the Java "Virtual Machine" in Windows Internet
Explorer. (Some legal battle between Microsoft and other software
companies). You now have to install the Java Run Time Environment yourself.
I recommend using Sun Microsystems Run Time Environment:

The photograph of Jupiter
in the application was taken by CPAC club-member, Ted Rodway. This file has been
resized to an image measuring 60 pixels across and 56 pixels down
(the correct aspect ratio of the "flattened" Jupiter).
It is also cropped so that Jupiter "touches" the edge of
the image. The
Castle Point Astronomy Club is proud of the fact that EVERYTHING in the
application was created from within the Club. I could have easily
used a high definition picture of Jupiter from NASA but I chose
not to in order to keep it completely amateur with all effort
created from within our Club. If you download the application, you may
replace the jupiter.gif file with your own image
but please insure that it conforms to the above guidelines.
Failure to do so will result in the application giving false
representations of transits etc.
