Club Equipment

The club is proud to possess various astronomical telescopes that are available to the members for loan, in order that they may have the opportunity to survey the skies at their leisure. This both enables those unable to afford their own telescope the opportunity to enjoy observation, and also enables those thinking of purchasing a telescope to get the feel of using one!

Our current list of instruments is as follows:
  • 4 1/2" Reflector
    (equatorial mount)
  • TWO x 6" Reflectors
    (equatorial mount)
  • 8" Reflector
(equatorial mount & dobsonian mount available)
  • 12" Reflector
    (dobsonian mount)
  • 20 x 80 Binoculars
    (with tripod)

  • The club also possesses a small library of books which are available for loan to members.

  • We have 6 sets of slides from Armagh Planetarium. These include sets 1 to 4 under the title "Stars and Galaxies." Each set contains between 20 and 30 slides taken on the Anglo-Australian Telescope. We also have "The Solar System," a 25 slide set showing images of all the planets and many of their moons from various sources. Finally we have "Through the eyes of Hubble," a 30 slide set of images showing objects as diverse as the asteroid Vesta and galaxies 12,000 million light years away, all taken by the most famous telescope in the world.
