Do you live in South-East Essex? Have you ever wanted to see the Rings of Saturn with your own eyes? You will get a chance to observe many objects at our regular observing nights. We are a very active club with regular Club Meetings. We have a range of Club telescopes available for loan to members.
We occasionally hold Open Nights to introduce astronomy to members of the public. We also meet regularly at a dark site in the Dengie Peninsula for serious observing away from the polluting lights of Southend-on-Sea.
Originally formed 39 years ago as
the Rayleigh Astronomical Society, the Castle Point Astronomy Club is a small and friendly
society of people near Rayleigh in Essex with a common interest
in astronomy and the sky at night.
Our members are of all levels of knowledge and expertise - from
absolute beginners to experienced amateur astronomers, and from
armchair astronomers to those out under the stars with a
telescope on every clear night!
This website is basically intended to show you who we are and what we do. Please browse around and don't hesitate to contact us for further details or if you wish to join us one evening.
